Fishing/Angling
Flanked by Lough Mask to the north and Lough Corrib to the South, the fishing in the cong area is second to none in the world. The season extends from 15 February to 30 September ( the dapping season from mid may to mid June), using mayfly and from mid July to mid September using 'hopper' or 'daddy'. There are many local gillies (fishing guides) available locally. A salmon licence may be purchased in the village. Ryan's Hotel has been home to fishermen from all over the world, Some of them this year returning for their 47th year.
Equestrian
The Ashford equestrian centre is situated in the grounds of Ashford Castle and is within an easy walking distance of the village of Cong.
Cruising & Boating
Corrib Cruises have many daily sailings which depart from both Cong and
Ougherard. Visit the 5th Century monastic site on Inchagoill island (twice
daily) or join in the live music on the traditional Irish cruise which
sails every evening at 6.00pm.

Walking & Hiking
Cong offers the tourist excellent walkways by rivers, lake, mountains
and forests. Many caves are to be viewed and points of interest include
Kellys Cave, BallyMcClancy Cave, the Pigeon Hole and the Dry Canal.

Golf and Miniature Golf
Cong offers a nine hole golf course at Ashford Castle and an 18 hole golf
course in Ballinrobe (7 miles from Cong).
There is also a 9 hole miniature fantasy golf course themed on favourite
fairytale and nursery rhyme characters.
Falconry
Irelands first school of falconry has been established to offer you a
rare opportunity to learn how to handle and fly hawks against the majestic
backdrop of Ashford Castle. No previous experience is necessary.

Cycling
Whether its for pleasure or the very energetic there are several routes
that will take you around Cong and Connemara.
Simple Pleasure
If you just come to Cong to relax then you couldn't have picked a better
location. Cong is surrounded by the most beautiful lakes and rivers. It's
an oasis of calm and tranquility in the most scenic and picturesque part
of Ireland, along with the relaxed easy going nature of the local people
make it become part of an old world where time has stayed still.

The Quiet Man Museum
The Quiet Man Museum is a novel concept taken from the Oscar winning John
Forde Film which will give the visitor a total Quiet Man experience as
if they were actually on set.
